Castles in the Air

A young boy, Oliver, dreams of castles and is making a model of one with playdough. He is so excited to complete it until he finds it destroyed by his cat, Baxter. What ensues is a matter of anger, hopelessness and fear until something changes. Oliver feels a spiritual lift of hope, belief and reconciliation with Baxter.

Castles are a popular topic with children especially in video games. What my book encourages is a hands-on example of modelling one. I am currently working on a Study Guide with Lesson Plans for teachers and those who home-school that includes the making of a model castle with playdough and cardboard. In my experience children of Oliver's age love to create and build things. The Storm encourages this. The Lesson Plans are more, though, than about building a castle. There are Language Arts lessons as well as Science as children explore levers and fulcrums in building a catapult. It should be ready to publish within about two months. Keep an eye out for it!
