Spirituality

I consider myself to be a very spiritual person and because I am I feel it is very important to incorporate that into my books. I want my characters to reveal their own spirituality through deep relationships with others and thus with God. In my first book, Please Tell Me Who I Am, Alexis and Kate have a very strong friendship that sustains both girls through their trials. Alexis also had a loving relationship with Mrs. Boucher that held her together and kept her grounded even in death.

In The Trees of the Lew, the characters themselves are spiritual beings as the essence of the trees they live within, their life force and a gift from God. They live in community with the other Tree Spirits and with the animals of the forest revealing their deep sense of belonging to one another. They show compassion and give aid to the Onlies as they seek their own trees, spirits adrift from life in much the same way as an addict is distant from family and friends and God. The Tree Spirits have Blessing Trees that gather them for a spiritual ritual with insight into their interior lives. Finally, they reveal the true secret of their Spirituality which is pure love, simple and free for everyone, a gift of the Holy Spirit.

Crying Silent Tears The Grieving and Healing the Betrayal of Childhood Sexual Abuse, is about the spiritual warfare that exists in this heinous act of self-love. It is a betrayal of the very soul of a child that attacks their relationships their family, friends and mostly, it disrupts their images of God as a loving Father. The second half of the book is a compendium of self-soothing techniques to help ease the pain and especially the soul.

My Blue Angel Memoirs of an Incestuous Family is all about relationships - with oneself, with others and with God's messenger, the angel Iris. It is mostly about choosing life after devastation and pain. It is a book of hope and longing for God's love shown through the love of others.

Even The Storm is about acceptance of God's call to us as a loving response to fear and being lost. Oliver hears a voice but is it of this world? Is it his mother calling him home? Or is it the Holy Spirit who is guiding his tentative steps? That's for you to decide because Spirituality is about choice and responding to God's call in all its forms.

My books show in many ways, the way we are connected to life, to love and to our Higher Power. I hope they can be a beacon to you to help inform your own journey in this life and into eternity.
